Shanghai Hua Hong International Inc., founded in Silicon Valley (California, United States) in 1997, is a venture capital investment firm focusing on the IC industry. It has funded IC design houses including OmniVision, Amlogic, Spreadtrum, and Apacewave. With its location advantage, Shanghai Hua Hong International serves as an important international window for Hua Hong Group into the global market.

In 2000 and 2001, Hua Hong Group set up two joint ventures with Shanghai International Trust Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Venture Capital Co., Ltd. to invest in hi-tech firms and start-ups engaged in IC design and software development. The two JVs, Shanghai Xin Hong Investment Management Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Xin Xin Investment Co., Ltd., use the venture capital model as a way to support several leading IC design houses and software developers in the industry, which have generated a decent return on investment.
Shanghai Xin Hong was selected by the Shanghai Municipal Government as one of the management firms of Shanghai’s key technological projects of “Revitalizing Shanghai through Science and Education”. Shanghai Xin Hong is now responsible for management of 7 key projects, including all approved projects for development of IC equipment.
